Over the last six months Homag has restructured itself, becoming one company with a new claim of ‘Your Solution’. Homag now stands as one single, strong brand for the future and with this brings change and exciting new developments.

Simon Brooks, sales and marketing director at Homag UK explains: “Rebranding was a big step for the Homag Group; despite losing some of our world renowned brand names the changes have a wealth of advantages. Greater clarity in communication as well as a clearer product range orientation simplifies our partnership with our customers, suppliers and business partners.

“Our equipment significantly increases productivity and is testament to our continual pursuit to develop the latest technology. By pooling all our Group wide expertise into common research and development projects, new solutions will be ready for the market faster than ever before. The future for the Homag Group and for our customers is going to be really exciting!”

From 26-29th September, Homag UK will open its doors and showcase the Group’s true meaning; innovation. A wide range of machinery will be put through its paces at the Castle Donington showroom demonstrating the technological advancements Homag has to offer. Key product specialists will be available throughout the event to help guide visitors through the exhibits and advise them on their requirements.

“At our September open house,” continues Simon, “there will be something for everyone. Visitors from businesses of any manufacturing size are invited to join us and discover their Homag solution. Whether you’re a small workshop looking for entry level machinery or a larger scale producer simply looking for the latest in technology, we’ll have something for you. With no fewer than 18 models from across the range on display, it’s the perfect opportunity to see some of our latest machinery in action.”

Panel dividing technology with intelligence

For customers looking for a more efficient board processing system, Homag’s latest revolutionary panel dividing modular solution, intelliGuide is a ‘must see’. This system has an intuitive LED sawing technology which guides operators by means of colour coded signals, systematically eliminating panel processing errors.

The intelliGuide system will be demonstrated on the HPP 300. Packed with features such as automatic recuts, offcut management and destacking software, this model is probably the most efficient machine in its class.

CNC machines for the future

For businesses considering investing in CNC technology, Homag’s Open House is a must. Whether you’re looking for a 3, 4 or 5 axis CNC solution, there’s a Homag solution. Nesting, routing, drilling or dowel inserting, machining, edge banding and trimming shaped parts, it’s all happening at the Open House.

There will be seven types of Homag CNC on demonstration, including the best-selling compact BHX 050 and BHX 055 machining centres processing panel lengths of up to 3050 mm. These powerhouses use between 8 – 13 vertical high-speed drilling spindles, all conforming to Homag’s very own quick change drilling system. A real time-saver that offers true value to the customer.

They will be joined by their bigger brother, the BHX 200. Boasting considerably faster operating speeds and a total of 36-high speed drilling spindles, this powerful drilling and routing processing centre machines high levels of precision in less than 10m² floor space.

The Vantage 100/510 will also be on display, demonstrating its versatility and efficiency in converting raw boards into fully machined components. This gantry style nesting CNC will be coupled with an outfeed conveyor belt, providing a seamless automatic throughfeed cell that truly maximises material handling. Driven by a 12HP (9kW) HSK spindle, the routing head works effortlessly across a 3100 x 1550 mm matrix table for the highest precision every time.

Open House visitors will be impressed by the incredible Venture 115M, a compact and extremely versatile, entry level 5-axis CNC processing centre. Its small footprint, unique console and table design, backed with the ‘convenience package’ give it a real edge in terms of affordable productivity and performance. Its overall installation area is reduced by 15 per cent and is freely accessible from all sides allowing 360 degree loading of the work table. This 5-axis workhorse brings high quality manufacturing to even the smallest of workshops.

Edging solutions for high performance

Representing ‘Homag Edge’, the company will be showcasing six edge banders. From the compact entry level 1120 FC through to the high speed Homag 2470. They’ll also be demonstrating various bonding mediums including EVA, PUR and airTec, presenting the best quality invisible joints on gloss and matt finished products.

The entry level 1120 FC edge bander is a production powerhouse, packed with features previously only seen on top models. With pre-milling, hot melt adhesive tape application up to 3m/m, and corner rounding, scraping and finishing, the 1120 FC is an affordable edge bander that consistently delivers first class results.

Following on from the 1120 FC, the highly flexible and intuitive Ambition 1230 airTec offers a complete processing solution. At an entry level price, it is a powerful tool for smaller manufacturers wanting to produce panels with ‘invisible joint’ technology for batch size 1, bespoke products or volume panel production.

At the top end of Homag’s edge banders is the Ambition 2470 edge bander. Designed especially for the demands of industrial level manufacturing, this high speed machine can reach feed speeds of up to 25 m/m. Available with either airTec’s ‘zerojoint’ technology for invisible joints or PUR adhesive for ultimate edge quality, the 2470 offers enormous flexibility. With its energy-saving and environmentally friendly benefits, this model is packed with impressive features to compliment any production line.

Automated production solutions

Homag offers a wide range of machinery for both assembly and packaging for all levels of the industry. Homag UK will be presenting the MDE 120 automatic carcass clamp which is just one of many models available for the assembly area of a production facility. This clamp can be used as a standalone machine or as part of a sophisticated assembly line.

Visitors will also get to see the highly intelligent VKS 250 bespoke box making cell. Using a 3D scanner, the VKS 250 precisely measures the dimensions of any item. This information is then automatically transmitted to the VKS 250 which cuts the box to the required size from two-fold cardboard. Designed to produce bespoke boxes and eliminate the need for fillers and wasted space, stock-keeping costs can be reduced by an impressive 30 per cent per year.

Also being demonstrated is the JOOS BEU 90. This cost effective, single daylight heated press is designed for pressing veneer laminate or paper foil onto wooden substrates such as chip board, plywood, MDF or similar solid boards. Once you have seen a JOOS press in action, you will understand why it is an investment that will pay dividends over and over again.

Nothing but a perfect finish

Last but not least in terms of machinery, Homag will have two key models from its portfolio that offer a 5 star finish. The latest SWT 225/CH is one of the many wide belt sanders available and is a highly versatile sanding solution. Complete with touchscreen control and two sanding heads, this machine can calibrate, finish sand and de-nib lacquered parts at the touch of a button.

The Open House will also see the UK debut of the GSF 100. Launched at this year’s LIGNA, the all new automatic spraying machine from Homag provides consistent, high quality painting or lacquering. Ideal for anyone who is looking to move away from manual spray booths, the GSF improves throughput and efficiency, taking any finishing department to the next level.

Future proofing software technology

Programming software is recognised as a vital ingredient and is sometimes considered as being more important than the machine itself. As the global market leader, Homag offers an array of packages for product design, 3D rendering, estimating, ordering CAM interface and CNC programming. Software specialists will be available throughout the event to take you on a test drive of all the latest versions of software solutions such as woodWOP, woodCAD|CAM, MagiCut as well as the world’s first industry 4.0 platform – Tapio.

“To help customers invest in brand new equipment,” concludes Simon Brooks, “our Homag Finance team will be available to give advice on purchase plan options and provide solutions tailored to customers’ individual needs. At Homag we understand that cash flow is crucial in order for a business to thrive, but there’s no reason it should restrict your plans to expand. Join us at Homag UK’s Open House and let us help you achieve your expansion plans.”
