As part of the co-operation between Daltons Wadkin and German woodworking machine manufacturer and distributor Kuper, Julian Gillich 22, a trainee precision engineer from Reitberg, Germany, arrived at the Daltons Wadkin workshops on 7th January. He joined the team with a view to widening his experience and gaining valuable knowledge in the company’s engineering facility with special focus on rebuilding.

Julian worked alongside the Daltons Wadkin fitters for three weeks, concentrating particularly on planing and moulding machines, contributing to fitting, fault finding and modifications. He returned to Germany on 25th January of to resume his employment with Heinrich Kuper and Co.

Julian enjoyed his time with Daltons Wadkin and the variety of work available to him.
Francis Dalton comments: “We were delighted to have Julian with us even for such a short period and he would be welcome back any time.

He went on to say that it was a nice way to mark a two-way initiative between the companies whereby Daltons Wadkin fitters visit Kuper to see the high standards being employed in the build process of their Planer/ Moulder range and a German trainee comes to the UK to experience the engineering capacity of Daltons Wadkin.
