The awards judging panel was made-up of leading names in the design world including Sophie Conran, John Rocha, Nick Munro, Oliver Heath, Clarissa Hulse, Tommy Walsh and Jeff Banks.

Editor Julia Goodwin opened the ceremony saying the 10th annual awards had received a record number of entries with the calibre of products being extremely high. Pipping premium brands Woodstock Furniture, John Lewis, Valcucine and Burbidge to the post, Graeme Smith, senior designer and Jill Lundberg, press officer, were proud to accept the award from Mary Berry, on behalf of everyone at PWS. Hosted at the Science Museum, the event was attended by over 200 design professionals, interior celebrities and short-listed award finalists.

Comments Graeme Smith, senior designer at Metris, “It was a really proud moment when Metris was announced the Gold Award winner, and to be presented with the coveted accolade by  Mary Berry, made the event even more special. The award coincides with a major relaunch for our Metris brand so the timing could not have been better. The standard of entries across all categories was extremely high, with household names such as Rangemaster, Marks & Spencer, Jim Lawrence, Le Creuset and Dyson also collecting awards.”

The Metris Wing Island was commended for its contemporary yet practical design and original use of curves. This award comes only a month after PWS collected the KBSA’ best product supplier award.
