Following the opening a new upholstery department at its Knowsley headquarters in January 2014 and the purchase of a state-of-the-art edgebander, Knowsley-based furniture manufacturer and wholesaler, DAMS, continues its investment strategy with the acquisition of Morris Contract Furniture, a trading division of Morris Furniture.

Based in Glasgow, Morris Contract Furniture is a leading supplier of bistro-style solutions for a wide variety of environments, including the hospitality, hotel, education and commercial office sectors, specialising in quality, design-led and functional products.

The deal with DAMS includes acquisition of the contract furniture specialist’s stock and some of its manufacturing assets, along with its designs, order book and online presence. Morris Contract Furniture will become a sub-brand of DAMS and will enable the manufacturer-wholesaler to widen the choice of furniture solutions it can offer the marketplace.

DAMS' managing director, Chris Scot, comments: “Morris Contract Furniture has an excellent reputation across the leisure, accommodation, corporate interiors, education and FF&E markets. This deal brings together two companies that complement each other perfectly, enabling DAMS to build a presence in the contract furniture market and to further enhance our relationships across the reseller channel, including office dealers, interior designers, architects, fit out contractors and catering suppliers.”

The new capabilities add to a growing asset base at DAMS, which opened a new showroom, an upholstery plant and a recycling operation last year. The Morris Contract Furniture product range will also enhance DAMS’ portfolio, which includes more than 3500 lines, with 250 products added for the 2015 catalogue.

Nick Savva, managing director of Morris Contract Furniture adds: “DAMS is a very dynamic player in the office furniture sector and this deal offers significant potential for the development of the Morris Contract Furniture product range, brand and customer base with the backing and strategic focus of an expanding parent company.”
