A leading manufacturer of handcrafted and upholstered seating solutions, Lyndon Design, has scored top marks for sustainability; having recently been awarded full membership of FISP - the revered Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme.

This prestigious accreditation was awarded to the company following a comprehensive audit. As well as complying with various environmental and social and economic criteria, together with environmental and health and safety legislation, Lyndon Design has documented and implemented an environmental policy statement.

Commenting on this latest achievement, managing director at Lyndon Design, Tim Armitt said: “We are delighted to have been accredited with FISP. We pride ourselves on producing quality handcrafted products made from natural timber; hence the need to operate in a sustainable manner, from the sourcing of products to how we are contributing to our local and wider economy, is of immense importance to us.”

Tim continues: “As part of our audit process, base lines and targets have been established over a number of areas that will serve to enhance our sustainability, improve efficiencies and help reduce costs. Key areas include; energy, waste and transport management, nuisance management and education and training.

“As well as signifying that we are taking our environmental and corporate social responsibility obligations seriously, FISP accreditation carries a mark of sustainable excellence that will strengthen our reputation for quality and integrity amongst existing customers, and will help in developing new market opportunities,” concludes Tim.

FISP was first launched in 2006 and represents a cross section of representatives from major trade federations and manufacturers. Designed to foster and promote sustainable development in the furniture industry, FISP now has over 65 members internationally and has become firmly established as the furniture industry forum for all environmental and sustainability issues.

In addition to FISP, Lyndon Design also carries accreditation for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
