Mereway says that it is with great sadness that Mereway announces the death of in- house designer and senior product development manager Ian Robinson, who died suddenly at home recently.

A well-known figure in the industry Ian started his career with kitchen manufacturer Hygena Cabinet Co where he helped launch the first flat-pack kitchen range in this country.

Ian was well-liked because of his relaxed manner and jovial charm which he combined with a passion for design and pursuit of excellence.

His contribution to Mereway’s success was significant. It was his sharp eye and attention to detail that was responsible for the success of most of its bestselling ranges over the last 20 years.

His design credentials were most evident in the last project he worked on, the Town & Country collection which illustrates well his huge talent for adding personality and ground breaking iconic range content.

Mereway joint MD, Bob Norris, says: “The industry has lost one of its best designers and he will be greatly missed by his many colleagues and friends.”

A private family funeral has taken place. The family requests that any donations are made to the British Heart Foundation, which can be done via a Gift of Hope page that has been established on the BHF website for messages and donations.
