Ten excellence centres will be found at the Bürkle Technology Arena at Ligna in hall 17, stand F19. Bürkle will display its portfolio of services and solutions at its significantly expanded stand, with a focus on system automation using robot technology, spray-paint machines combined with system peripheries, digital printing, surface finishing and interdisciplinary engineering with 4.0 functionality for virtual start-up operations and system simulation in real time.

System automation with robot technology

For many years, system automation has been key to project planning in all Bürkle surface technology product segments. Bürkle has always had a high level of expertise in the deployment of a variety of workpiece manipulation.

Alongside the development of automation solutions in linear technology, the Freudenstadt-based systems manufacturer has also strategically diversified. In the future, the company will focus even more strongly on automation technology. At Ligna, Bürkle will be presenting its work with a renowned global player in robotics with two automated manufacturing cells.

Spray-coating and system peripheries

The well-known machines from the ROBUSeco and ROBUSpro series will be presented in Hannover with a range of new process-related developments and innovations. It’s all about being faster, more economical, and more efficient.

Faster colour change allows optional integration of a colour changing system. In addition, paint loss during colour changes is very low. The use of different colour cycles makes is possible to process different types of paint separately.

During rotation spraying, Bürkle combines high-speed (up to 20m/min) with more efficient processing. In spite of the high feed rates, the machine runs very quietly (approximately 20rpm = approximately 125m/min circumferential speed). Automatic gun tracking enables perfect coating quality – even at the edges.

In the entry-level segment, Bürkle complements the ROBUSeco series with a new handling system for semi-automatic loading and removal of workpieces.

Digital printing technology

Bürkle’s customers desire more differentiation and a high degree of flexibility. To meet these objectives, the group will present two single-pass inkjet printers for wood decor printing at LIGNA, together with a major, internationally active partner.

This premiere will offer a unique range of applications for many wood composite substrates.

Interdisciplinary engineering, 4.0 functionality

With the Mechatronics 2022 project, the company group is turning its interdisciplinary engineering into a reality. Key to the project is the process of creating a digital twin of real physical system. This enables virtual startup procedures and real-time system simulation.

The approach of the digital twin offers Bürkle’s market partners a range of benefits, including the reduction of project commissioning time and lead. Product quality also increases thanks to verified machine behaviour on the simulator with less effort and time needed for in-factory prototype tests.

Bürkle 4U, technology arena 4U

Smart Surface Technology is one of the major topics at LIGNA. With solutions on show at the Bürkle Technology Arena, the company is demonstrating its full portfolio of services for digitalisation, automation and ever-increasing levels of individualisation. In response to the wishes of its market partner, 4U Orientation marked the start of Bürkle’s successful journey in Hannover four years ago. It will be followed up this year by Smart Surface Technology 4U.
