Covid-19 may have created many challenges, but it has provided one County Londonderry veneer company with a very positive opportunity.

In September of this year, Quasar Ltd took the opportunity to not only ‘take stock’ of its business, but to show it off in a brand new veneer showroom.

“Even prior to the onset of the pandemic, we had become aware of how quickly our business was expanding,” comments company owner, Alan Dickson, who had worked as a saw doctor for 44 years before deciding three years ago to specialise in surfacing and decorative panels.

“Our business had already started to expand rapidly before the pandemic hit, but during the first lockdown it grew spectacularly. We were delighted by the unprecedented level of business, but it quickly became clear that we needed to offer our customers – both new and potential – an increased range of services, including the ability to see our fantastic panels on display.”

The only problem that the company had was that its location, Shivers Business Park in Toomebridge, didn’t have any units available on site. Fortunately, fate stepped in when the adjoining unit became available in January 2021 this year and, unsurprisingly, Alan jumped at the opportunity to create the showroom.

“The showroom enables customers to see and touch the quality of panels Quasar has to offer,” he says. “The sample panels are beautifully displayed on the walls of the expansive showroom and show our work off at its best.

“From our beautiful range of Natural, Dyed, Designer and Reconstituted veneers, every veneer is subjected to our perfect attention to detail and crafted into a range of fantastic surfacing and decorative panels that are sure to complement every domestic and commercial fit out!”

Needless to say, Alan is delighted with both the showroom and the very positive response from the potential customers, who are travelling to it from all over the island of Ireland.

“Everyone has said that the panels are really shown off to their best,” he says. “Even existing customers, who have already purchased our products, have said that they’re blown away by the ranges that we have on offer, and being shown them in this way simply adds to the attraction.

“There’s no doubt that the showroom has given us a new, increased market share and we anticipate that this will continue well into 2022 and beyond. Our order books are practically overflowing but, as the only showroom in Ireland, we’re delighted to continue welcoming new and existing customers alike!”

Customers who are already familiar with the beauty and style of Quasar’s craftwork, are equally delighted by the new showroom.

“We’ve worked with Alan and his team at Quasar on quite a few occasions over the years,” comments James McErlean, MD of Alex Jane Ireland, which is based in the neighbouring village of Castledawson.

“We’ve always been delighted by the quality of the products and the excellent level of customer service, but the showroom has really added a new dimension to the business. We’re constantly complimented by our customers about our decorative panels and it’s great that we’re able to signpost potential customers to the showroom.”
