William Hands team at the top of West Wycombe Hill

Staff at William Hands, a manufacturer of high quality, dynamic commercial furniture for the workplace, have scaled the equivalent height of Mount Everest by repeatedly climbing a local landmark.

The challenge, which was completed in aid of The Furniture Makers' Company charity, Step 2 It, saw members of staff walk up West Wycombe Hill (165m high) over 50 times to reach the same cumulative journey above sea as Mount Everest, which is 8,849m.

The team have been making trips up the hill, which is on the doorstep of William Hands’ factory in Buckinghamshire, for the past nine months.

Staff made their final climb up the hill on Friday 6th May, celebrating with a glass of fizz at the top.

William Hands has raised just over £1000 for the campaign, which ended in April.

“The [Step 2 It] campaign is very close to our hearts," says Robert Hamilton, CEO at William Hands. "We have deep routes as a High Wycombe business and see the challenges that that the pandemic has cast upon our community. The support that this charity gives those that have served in our industry is something that we can all feel proud in being a part of.”
