Leading Swiss fixings specialist, Lamello, has launched a new detachable furniture connector with flexible positioning pins. The brand new Clamex P-14 Flexus, which follows the launch of the Clamex P-14 CNC earlier this year, has been designed to offer a flexible joining solution for use on wood-based panels and hardwood.

So what makes this fixing so unique? The design features flexible positioning pins that offer an adaptable assembly sequence and facilitate easy locating with the workpiece. The pins are bevelled and moveable, enabling workpieces to be tilted in both directions for ease of use and, with no limitations on the sequence of assembly, furniture makers can use the Swiss-fixings on a wide range of applications that require the joining of corner connections, dividing panel joints and angles.

An extension of the Clamex family, the new connector, which is available from Lamello representatives in the UK from September 2020, benefits from all the advantages of the P-System. It’s fully detachable (making flat pack and on-site assemble quick and easy thanks to a small rotating lever), offers considerably stronger results than traditional joining techniques and, because it can go into thinner materials, it’s suitable for use on mitres from 22.5-180 degrees on surfaces, corners and dividing panel connections. It’s also designed to be extremely discreet, features a 6mm opening to open and close the connector and has a lateral tolerance of 1mm.

“The beauty of the new Clamex P-14 Flexus is its versatility,” says Shaye Chatfield, Lamello area sales manager international for Lamello in the UK and Ireland. “Its flexible positioning pins make it a fast and convenient way to assemble mitre frames and shelving units. Now, when you’re assembling a shelving unit, you no longer need to dismantle the entire unit if you need to remove a shelf. Instead, thanks to the flexible two pin design, each shelf can be removed in turn. Not only does this speed up the entire process, it makes previous design limitations a thing of the past.”
