SR Timber is expanding its range of superior-quality edge-glued panels and worktops that are used in the manufacture of bespoke wooden kitchen and furniture products.

The company’s wood panels division is introducing more new products sourced from around the globe that are ideal for use by manufacturers, joiners, shopfitters and builders.

It is introducing a white poplar, a sustainable wood that will be a good alternative to tulipwood and ideal for painted kitchen furniture.

The company says it is also importing more teak from central America, which is 100% plantation-grown – and therefore 100% sustainable.

It is also introducing three-layered solid oak, ash, alder, maple and American black walnut panels, which are available is thicknesses of 20, 26 and 30mm – the company says these are ideal for kitchens because they are a strong and stable product – as well as a full range of veneered MDF.

Speaking about the expansion of the overall range of edge-glued panels and worktops, trading director Shaun Revill says that the north Nottinghamshire-based company continues to experience strong growth and is responding to customer demand for other products – particularly in terms of sustainability.

“We are a leading importer of specialised timber products, and since we launched the Solid Wood Panels Division three years ago, that side of the business has grown significantly,” says Shaun. “This is why we have sourced more panels to expand our range.

“Our dedicated team, led by trading manager Simon Cunnold, has more than 25 years’ experience in importing timber panels, which means that our wealth of knowledge allows us to source the best wood available from a global network of manufacturers who have proven track records in supplying solid wood panels.”

Growth has been driven by a focus on one core product type – solid wood edge-glued panels, which originate from wood species including oak, Scandinavian pine (knotty pine), radiata pine (knotless pine), beech, ash, white poplar (ideal for painted products), tulipwood (yellow poplar), teak and American black walnut.

SR Timber offers deliveries from stock within a two-to-three-day lead time, ensures all products are compliant to EUTR regulations, offers width of panels from 400 to 1220mm and widths from 900 up to 3600mm.
