Leading supplier of CNC routing/cutting systems AAG has announced the launch of a new small-format solution. Called the AXYZ Innovator, it replaces the current Z-Series of machines and provides an enhanced performance-to-cost capability founded on new and improved design characteristics. Significantly, the Innovator incorporates many of the design features and performance capabilities of much larger AXYZ machines, but at a commensurately lower cost.

Based on the traditional solid steel frame construction for increased rigidity, with an aluminium processing bed and vacuum material clamping deck, the Innovator is available in two standard sizes – 1.2 x 1.2m and 1.5 x 2.4m – with a gantry clearance of 152mm.

It features, as standard, a premium rack-and-pinion drive system with integrated servomotors, and the AXYZ A2MC machine-control system for faster and smoother machine operation. The machine also comes packaged with Vectric VCarve Pro design and production software to accommodate more complex 2D and 3D applications and to provide compatibility with virtually any alternative popular software program.

Available for the first time on any small-format machine in its class, Innovator has an optional three-station ATC (Automatic Tool Change) system to allow continuous processing of a wider range of materials without operator intervention.

The ATC incorporates a protective cover to eliminate problems frequently encountered with environmental pollutants such as dust and dirt. Other optional features include the latest AVS (AXYZ Vision System) for optimum routing/cutting accuracy, and special cooling/lubricating and dust-collection systems for improved machine performance and reliability.

The compact design of the Innovator makes it ideal for installation at companies where available workspace might be at a premium. These include, for example, those in the general engineering, metal and plastics fabrication, woodworking and sign-manufacturing sectors.

It is also an ideal routing/cutting solution for prototyping, as well as for use in the education sector, for which a special version of Innovator is available to accommodate basic CNC machine training for students.

Belying its smaller format, the Innovator will process virtually any material normally handled by much larger and more expensive machines. Typically, these include all kinds of solid and particle woods, aluminium and similar alloys, foamed board, plastics and laminates.
