Mirka is a market-leading tools and abrasives manufacturer with a product portfolio that is constantly growing to meet the needs and requirements of end users.

With Mirka’s abrasive range, the R&D team in Jeppo, Finland, is continually looking at ways to introduce cutting-edge technology to ensure they have a long life span and are suitable for multiple applications. This focus is highlighted by Ultimax® Black, a new wide belt abrasive for 2024. This product has been designed specifically for belt sanding and has hardwearing and anti-static properties that make it suitable for use on hard materials and hardwood surfaces.

The technology on the belt’s surface cavities prevents clogging and reduces the temperature of the sanding process while increasing the surface pressure on each single sanding grain. This helps the abrasive stay sharp for longer, contributing to a higher removal rate and a lower scratch pattern.

To complement the abrasives available from the product portfolio and to ensure businesses are making the most out of them, Mirka has invested heavily in training programmes that either take place at its national training centre in Milton Keynes or at a customer’s site.

These programmes are not a one-size-fits-all offering but are customisable based on the business’ needs and requirements to ensure it maximises the efficiencies of the products and abrasives it uses. This usually results in subtle cost savings that add up over time, while also increasing productivity and the overall quality of the finish.

Training also ensures that when attendees go back to their business, they have the necessary knowledge and skills to make the most of the tools they are using and can efficiently complete the processes that require the use of Mirka’s products.
