The KSN-4-1350 faced stiff competition but Amharra’s managing director, Tim Doran, says: “We were looking for excellent build quality, versatility and advanced sanding solutions to provide the highest quality finishes for our market leading range of doors – once we had been shown the Weber KSN we knew we had found the right machine for us.”

The four-station solution for Ahmarra features a wide-belt, high quality steel calibration roller, a fine-finish cross-sanding unit with segmented pad, the unique patented wide belt Weber CBF unit with lamella cross belt, and the patented Weber planetary brushing head system for fine finishing and profile sanding. On exit, Weber’s controlled turbo blow-off unit supplies a fully cleaned panel ready for lacquer coating.

Once the decision had been made to purchase the KSN, attention was drawn to Amharra’s lacquer finishing line where a high quality lacquer finish is required. Tim continues: “Although we have excellent extraction, there are always residual particles in the air and these can settle on the doors as they are on the conveyor to be finished.

“We looked at a number of options but the only system that we were convinced by was the Wandres Sword brush system that we could add to our exisiting Bürkle UV roller coating line – it completely removes any fine particles, just before applying the lacquer coat, giving us a superb finish”

Ben Doran, who has responsibility for manufacturing, says: “Choosing the right machines was obviously critical for us, but we also wanted to feel a strong connection, not only with the machine suppliers, but also with their UK agents. After-sales support is sometimes a more important aspect than the machine itself!

“The technical sales support from Weber, Wandres and MPS Ltd made us feel that our project was important and that they wanted to make sure that we were firstly given the right solution and then secondly that the after-sales support sytem was in place to give us the confidence to place the order.”
