For a small workshop, updating and changing your trusted manufacturing techniques can feel like a daunting task, but with the right people by your side, it doesn’t have to be. In recent years, Weinig has grown its range of highly efficient, entry-level machines designed to help smaller manufacturers combat the challenges facing today’s woodworking industry.
“There is no better way to gauge a machine’s capabilities than to see it in action,” begins Mark Smith, regional sales manager at Weinig UK. “That’s why, as well as being able to pre-book demonstrations at our showroom in Abingdon, we run several in-house events throughout the year that are tailored around specific themes and trends unique to the UK’s furniture manufacturing industry.”
Mark continues, “Last year, we ran a Profitable Workshop event that targeted smaller manufacturers looking to move away from traditional machinery like spindle moulders and planer thicknessers and upgrade their manufacturing processes to future-proof their businesses. It was one of our most attended in-house shows of the year and feedback suggests that our straightforward, bitesize format and informative, one-on-one conversations with our technical experts made the whole event a value-added experience. We wanted to continue this success in 2023, with even more events focused on offering solutions to some of the industry’s most challenging issues.”
From window manufacturing and edgebanding technology events to fire door manufacturing and nesting vs cut, edge and drill, Weinig’s Connect Series continues to champion companies of all sizes. Its most recent in-house event, The Smaller Workshop set out to help smaller businesses explore the benefits of automation and understand how the introduction of Weinig’s entry-level machines can help tackle the skills and labour shortage, whilst realistically managing increased material costs.
Revolving around three competitively priced woodworking machines built to automate manufacturing processes and increase efficiencies, visitors were able to watch a range of live machinery demonstrations and take part in discussions with technical experts to learn more about the benefits associated with the new Cube 3 four-sided planer; the compact Profimat 30 automatic planer and moulder and Unicut P optimised cross-cut saw.
“From compact footprints and low- maintenance components to simple software solutions and speedy set-up, automation doesn’t need to be an overly complected affair,” Mark adds. “It simply needs to do the job its designed to do quickly and effectively. That’s where Weinig’s entry-level machines really do come into their own.”
“In today’s market, it’s never been more important to embrace technology and the power of automation – regardless of your company’s size. It can no longer be seen as a luxury to take steps towards automation and ultimately, increase efficiencies throughout your manufacturing cycle.
"That’s why Weinig are here to help you navigate your way through it and show you how you can save on time, skill and labour. With realistic price tags, simple operation and robust, accurate machining guaranteed, there’s been no better time to explore Weinig’s smaller workshop concept and the benefits that come from partnering with a global leader in woodworking machinery.”
