Following the launch of its in-house dedicated product design and development department, Sensio has appointed its first designer, Leeds University graduate Darcey Wood, who began working for the company in September.

After two years of studying product design at the University of Leeds, Darcey was accepted onto a summer internship programme at Sensio. She reflects: “My internship taught me a lot about how to incorporate everything I had learnt on my course into a real life business situation and I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect, from the designing to the business meetings.”

Spurred on by the responsibility and challenges she was given as Sensio’s first ever in-house designer, Darcey designed a range of re-chargeable lights. The other members of the team at Sensio were so impressed by her efforts, that they unanimously agreed in-house designing was the way forward for the company.

When Darcey completed her Degree with a First Class Bachelor of Design (Honours), she was thrilled to be offered a permanent position at Sensio as its first in-house product developer.

Looking to the future, Darcey comments: “I’m extremely excited about growing as a designer within a company that has so much opportunity and room for growth and I believe we will do great things in the future.”

Michael Linsky, managing director of Sensio says: “It’s great to welcome Darcey to the Sensio team. Everyone is really looking forward to working with her and we’re expecting our first ever in-house product designer to achieve fantastic things, so watch this space.”
