Based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, C & M Joinery is a bespoke stair-making manufacturer, run by Kevin Wright. It is a family business which was started by Kevin’s father 40 years ago.

As well as stair making, the firm produces associated stair making components, specialised CNC wood turnings and specialised mouldings which are produced on Leadermac machines. Having been very pleased with the first Leadermac machine his company used, Kevin had no hesitation when it came to needing a second machine – it had to be another award-winning Leadermac machine.

So Mr Kevin Wright the customer sought out Mr Kevin Wright the managing director of Leadermac UK, the well-known supplier based in Blackrod, Bolton.

C & M Joinery’s first Leadermac machine was a 310mm wide, five-head Compact machine for producing stair strings which was installed in January 2003. Due to expansion, a second Leadermac five-head Compact machine was installed in November 2014.

The Compact model is Leadermacs’ best-selling machine in the UK and also worldwide. Standard features include a 230mm wide x 150mm high working capacity with standard feed speeds of up to 24m per minute with an electronic inverter to control the feed speeds. In addition, it features an LED feed speed display, a solid cast iron base, full width driven bed rollers, hard-chromed tables and bed plates throughout, a double-roller driven short stock feeder with pneumatic loading between the vertical spindles.

There are also Siemens and Telemecanique motors and electrical switch gear, Star Delta starting to all spindle motors. The company says its Leadermac Compact machine is the heaviest in its class.

Service and back up support is directly from Leadermac’s UK office, with a large stock of moulder spares on the shelf ready for next day delivery.
