Major supplier of high-performance routing, cutting and print finishing systems to a wide range of disparate industries, including primarily the industrial woodworking, furniture production, sign making, plastics and metal fabrication, digital printing/finishing and panel processing sectors, AXYZ International recently held its first 2018 Open Day event.

This again took place at the Royal Air Force Museum in north London that has proved such a popular and easily accessible venue for previous similar events.

According to AXYZ International’s vice-president (market development), Robert Marshall: “It was one of the best of the Open Day events held so far, attracting a large number of existing and potential new customers and enabling demonstrations throughout the day of selected machines from the extensive AXYZ portfolio.

It also allowed promotion of the company’s 24/7 online resource for tooling options, spare parts, accessories and consumables. Application specialists were on hand throughout the day to answer questions, provide technical support and discuss the company’s bespoke product training courses.”

The recently upgraded AXYZ Trident hybrid CNC combined routing/cutting machine and an AXYZ 4000 series Twin Z router were the key products demonstrated handling different materials to highlight specific machining capabilities.

Both machines featured the AXYZ ATC (Automatic Tool Change) facility, while the Trident also incorporated both the AXYZ AVS (AXYZ Vision System) for radically enhanced machining accuracy to accommodate the more intricate finishing applications for which the machine was designed and an oscillating knife unit for handling materials specific to these applications.

The Trident machine incorporates a triple-head tool configuration, comprising a CNC routing spindle coupled with tangential and oscillating knife-cutting units. These units are interchangeable to enable the processing of frequently problematical thin materials such as vinyl and foils and thicker and heavier materials like solid and foamed boards, aluminium and aluminium composites (ACM), acrylic and plastics.

AXYZ International also announced a number of new production tool enhancements. These include a kiss-cut knife-cutting tool, a high-speed 8.7HP 40,000rpm router spindle and an expanded ATC facility. The kiss-cut knife option extends the functionality of AXYZ CNC routers by accommodating a much wider range of materials. It can be adapted to fit most of the commonly used routing/cutting spindles and tangential knife tools.

The HDS spindle is said to represent a major advancement in high-speed routing and cutting by providing up to three times the power and speed of a standard spindle and with no compromise on the quality of the edge finish on the materials being processed. The expanded ATC facility features a choice of 10- or 14-tool stations to complement the existing seven- and 21-station options.

Robert Marshall concluded: “This first 2018 Open Day has built on the success of previous similarly themed events. I was particularly impressed with the positive interest shown by many of our prime existing as well as the number of potential new customers who visited the event which serves as an indicator of the ongoing business strength and market status of AXYZ International.”
