British bed-manufacturer, Sleepeezee has resumed production at its factory in Strood, Kent with new set of social distancing measures and a reduced work force.

Having paused production and deliveries in line with initial Government guidance at the start of lockdown, the business has now put in place a series of strict new processes that will enable the factory to re-open, whilst still protecting staff and customers.

All staff have been provided with PPE, including masks, face shields, gloves and cleaning equipment as well as being full training on the new procedures that must now be followed. The number of staff in the factory has been reduced and their shifts will be phased to minimize risk.

On arrival at the factory, all staff will be required to take their temperature via a new contactless system. Anyone with a high temperature will not be permitted entry to the building and will be told to return home and self-isolate.

The factory and head-office have also been adapted to create a new one-way system with safely spaced work stations and hand-sanitisation zones.

Howard Wilson, joint MD at Sleepeezee, comments: “Over the last four weeks, we have been working hard behind the scenes to put strict social distancing measures in place to ensure that we can open safely and in compliance with Government guidelines.

“The safety and wellbeing of our staff remains of utmost importance to us, and with a reduced and phased work force we’re pleased to be able to reopen and start production for our customers.”

All office support staff will continue to work from home to avoid unnecessary travel.
