Abtec has announceed that in March 2023 the 7000th delegate attended one of the company’s abrasive wheel, disc and sanding belt safety training courses.

The first trainee was in May 2010 and since then, operators, supervisors, managers, safety officers and procurement officers have attended and benefited from the knowledge and application of the practical aspects of Abtec’s safety courses.

Stringent safety standards are maintained throughout the manufacture of abrasive products but used incorrectly the grinding, sanding or cutting process can be extremely dangerous.

To further reduce accidents, however, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations requires that certain basic precautions are taken in the storage and use of abrasive products.

“At Abtec our mission is to provide each delegate with the knowledge and ability to safely and efficiently assess and manage risk when using abrasive products,” explains Michelle Rowell, Training Coordinator. “Each course is designed to meet the specific requirements and abilities of each delegate and they are encouraged to participate and evaluate practical applications during training.

“The training is carried out on your premises at a date and time convenient for your company. All delegates to our training courses have access to a dedicated careline to answer the type of questions on health, safety and efficiency that may arise after formal training has been completed.

“We are extremely proud of the fact that our customers choose to have us train their operators, perhaps for the first time and then in subsequent years using us to complete refresher courses or courses for new staff,” explains Michelle.
