Innovation at LIGNA: IMA Schelling has developed an automated handling system for its fh4 and fh5 panel-sizing saws

Under the motto WOOD Vibes, the IMA Schelling Group will be presenting its comprehensive solutions expertise in both woodworking and the board industry at LIGNA in Hanover, Germany from 15 to 19 May 2023. The two business units Woodworking and Board will be represented at the trade fair with two booths.
The combined sizing and edge banding machine Combima, the highly flexible drilling machine IMAGIC L1 and the panel sizing saw fh5 with robot handling: these are the machines on the booth in Hall 12. Visitors will thus not only experience live three efficient, individually adaptable high-tech machines for different types of wood processing. Also on show will be the new Aimi software developed by IMA Schelling, which is responsible for controlling and networking the machines as well as the entire plant.
Self-developed software
“The machines at LIGNA demonstrate our comprehensive system competence in wood processing,” emphasises Simon Waterbaer, Director of Sales at IMA Schelling Group. “Not only do we offer a comprehensive portfolio of highly developed machines, but with Aimi we also provide an end-to-end software solution that is ideally matched to the machines and offers all the options for networking the machines and controlling the system.”

As further highlights, customers and visitors to the booth will be able to find out about the Combima’s new insertion system as well as the further developed robotic sorting cell, the hl1 high-performance unit for cutting and the new edge handling. In addition, the specialist team of the Consulting business unit will present its solutions for the woodworking industry and concepts for optimal production.
Solutions for the panel industry
An overview of its technologies for conveying, lifting, sorting and storing boards will be presented by the Business Unit Board in Hall 26. With its intelligent and high-quality cutting, logistics and packaging solutions, the Business Unit addresses manufacturers in the fields of wood-fibre boards, plywood boards and solid wood boards as well as board finishers.
Together with two regional partner companies from Austria, Künz Kranbau and LTW Intralogistics, IMA Schelling Board presents itself as an attractive partner for high-quality automation solutions in the panel-producing industry.
