Humanscale, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance workplace products, has officially opened its first-ever Australian showroom in Sydney.
This marks a significant milestone in the company’s continued global expansion and long-term commitment to the Australian market, further expanding its showroom presence across the APAC region.
Located within the iconic Royal Exchange Assurance Building on Pitt Street, the new showroom introduces Humanscale’s world-class ergonomic solutions to Australia’s design, architecture and workplace communities in a purpose-built, experiential environment.
The innovative twelve-storey building is a significant example of Inter-War Functionalist architecture and is widely recognised as Sydney’s first modernist high-rise with a full glass façade.
Within this historically significant setting, Humanscale’s showroom carefully balances architectural heritage with contemporary design. Designed in collaboration with renowned Suchi Reddy of Reddymade New York, and in partnership with Tribe Studio Australia, the interior respects the building’s modernist principles of light, transparency and function, while introducing refined materials and curated work environments that showcase Humanscale’s award-winning ergonomic solutions.
The Pitt Street location places Humanscale at the centre of Sydney’s design and business district, surrounded by leading architecture studios, interior design practices, commercial clients and creative professionals. The showroom’s prominent street presence and expansive glazing reflect the building’s original architectural intent, creating a strong visual connection between the interior and the city beyond.
“This is a major moment for Humanscale,” says Mark Nolan, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, at Humanscale. “Opening our first Sydney showroom allows us to better serve the Australian market while providing a physical space that truly embodies our philosophy. Sydney is a global city with a strong design culture, and housing our showroom within a building of such architectural significance makes this opening even more meaningful.”
Designed to reflect real working environments, the Sydney showroom presents a comprehensive selection of Humanscale’s ergonomic solutions. Visitors can experience the brand’s renowned task and conference seating, including the Freedom, World, Liberty, Summa and Path chairs, alongside fully realised workstation settings that demonstrate Humanscale’s holistic approach to workplace performance.
The space also features Humanscale’s Monitor Arm collection, height-adjustable tables, task lighting, docking stations, and integrated accessories, allowing visitors to see how each element works together to support comfort, wellbeing and productivity. Textile applications, occasional seating and collaborative zones soften the environment, while quieter areas provide spaces for focused work and private conversations
True to Humanscale’s values, sustainability is embedded throughout the showroom, from material choices to product selection, reinforcing the company’s long-standing commitment to responsible manufacturing and timeless design.
“For our Australian clients and partners, this showroom represents an important next chapter,” says Nolan. “Having a permanent presence in Sydney allows us to engage more deeply with the local design community and demonstrate first-hand how ergonomics, sustainability and intelligent design can transform the way people work.”
The Humanscale Sydney showroom is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., by appointment only. Visitors are encouraged to schedule appointments through the Humanscale website.
