Material Matters Copenhagen returns in June for its second edition

After its hugely successful launch, Material Matters Copenhagen returns to Ukraine House, Gammel Dok in Christianshavn for 3daysofdesign 2026.

The second edition of the fair, which highlights the importance of material intelligence in design and architecture, runs from 10-12th June and features a combination of familiar brands with some new names.

Returning companies include Aifunghi, the innovative Dutch furniture and lighting brand that works with mycelium and Swedish glass artist Jo Andersson. Meanwhile, there are a number of first-time exhibitors: Cypriot design studio Pit-to-Table, for instance, uses waste olive stones to create a new material; Danish practice Bundle Studio will be showing a lounge chair that is built from form-pressed veneer shells assembled with a lignin-based adhesive; and ReCrafted Design Studio (another Danish company) works with discarded materials from demolition sites and off-cuts from production to create new products.

Other manufacturers and makers to look out for include: British bathroom brand Kast, Swedish rug company Katecha, Danish brand Drop Paper, and Hong Kong furniture maker CHICHOIMAO. Meanwhile, the likes of Smile Materials and the Only Natural Awards from the UK will be familiar to Material Matters London visitors.

"We are delighted to be returning to the Christianshavn design district for this year’s 3daysofdesign," say Material Matters co-founders Grant Gibson and William Knight. "Our launch event attracted a huge number of visitors and contained a palpable sense of joy. This year, we are bringing together a selection of companies from around the globe which work with materials in different, but often hugely exciting, ways. We can’t wait to open our doors once again."
