Saomad welcomed approximately 200 visitors to its Open House event in Reschigliano, Italy, on 1–2nd October, showcasing five machining centres and unveiling its new Woodpecker Compact to woodworking professionals from across Europe.
The event gave manufacturers and joinery specialists the opportunity to see the machinery operating in real production demonstrations, compare capabilities and explore potential upgrades to their workshops.
Making its public debut, the Woodpecker Compact combines advanced machining technology with a space-saving design. Its features include automatic loading and unloading, a 19kW vertical electrospindle with C-axis capability and a 64-position tool magazine, offering manufacturers automation within a compact footprint.
Other machines demonstrated included the Woodpecker Just 3500, Mirai 4500 and Performance 2, alongside the Kairos 620, designed for machining cross-laminated timber beams and panels.
Automation and productivity emerged as key themes throughout the event. Visitors explored options for automated material handling, increased machine utilisation and equipment capable of supporting demanding production schedules. Discussions also highlighted the importance of machining precision, dust extraction and long-term reliability when investing in new machinery.
Saomad reported that several commercial negotiations began during the event and a number of machine sales were completed. The company also welcomed suppliers, tooling specialists and software providers, creating opportunities to discuss wider production improvements.
The event underlined the continuing importance of live demonstrations in helping manufacturers assess new technology and identify machinery suited to their individual production requirements.
