True North Bespoke, a North East-based specialist in high-end joinery and interiors, has rebranded as MAKO, marking the next phase in its development as a precision-driven, design-led studio.

Established in February 2022, the business has built a reputation for delivering handcrafted furniture and full joinery packages with a strong architectural focus. A recent £100,000 investment in staff development, team growth and workshop upgrades signalled the timing of the rebrand, aligning with increased demand for its bespoke design-led services.

The rebrand also coincides with the expansion of MAKO’s leadership team. Operations director, Joseph Drew, joined in January, bringing over 20 years of experience in high-end residential and commercial interiors, including running his own successful business. Project manager, Megan Snow, followed in May, bringing architectural training from Northumbria University and previous experience at an interior design studio. Their appointments strengthen MAKO’s capacity to deliver complex high-end projects and have played a key role in shaping the company’s strategic direction and rebrand.

MAKO has also launched a new website and Instagram presence to showcase its portfolio and process-led approach to bespoke craftsmanship.

The new brand reflects the studio’s evolution with a refined visual identity and the strapline ‘Undeniably Yours’. It positions MAKO as a national player in high-end residential and commercial interiors, offering tailored design-first joinery packages.

Megan works closely with clients at every stage of the design process, developing technical drawings and photorealistic visuals that ensure each detail is fully considered. Joseph leads operations to ensure delivery aligns with the high standards the company is known for.

Joseph, said: “At this level of service, clients aren’t just looking for craftsmanship, they’re looking for something that feels completely personal.

“Every detail is considered, every finish is intentional and the result is something truly individual. That’s the experience MAKO delivers. It is not just bespoke, it’s a made-to-measure vision of what our clients want their homes to feel like.”

MAKO delivers full property-wide joinery packages with particular expertise in bespoke kitchens and fitted furniture, including dressing rooms, staircases, panelling, wardrobes and media units.

Recent projects include a rift oak and birch ply kitchen for a Gosforth-based architect and Associate Professor featuring a European oak slatted wall with a hidden door to a walk-through pantry and microcement surfaces throughout. The company also delivered a bespoke joinery package for Newcastle businessman Mike O’Brien’s refurbished Rydal Mount home in Hexham and a full commercial fit-out for a clinic on Lansdowne Terrace in Gosforth.

To date, MAKO has delivered bespoke joinery packages valued up to £200,000 with the capacity to handle larger-scale and technically demanding briefs. It is a member of the British Woodworking Federation and collaborates regularly with leading national architects, including Elliott Architects and Kate Rose.

Megan, said: “You can describe what something will look like but seeing it rendered makes it real. It gives clients the confidence to make decisions and to imagine how they’ll actually live in the space. That moment of connection between client and design is where the value really begins, turning an idea into something tangible, something personal.”
