Mirka has launched the first narrow belt net abrasive for the wood industry with live demonstrations on its stand at Ligna. Abranet Max features aluminium oxide grains that deliver a high cut rate to achieve efficient sanding on a variety of applications including soft and hard wood, primer, lacquer and soft and resinous materials.

The abrasive’s innovative symmetric net structure allows effective stock removal whilst minimising the risk of overheating the sanded surface area or burning the belt. Its design creates a finer, more consistent scratch pattern resulting in a better surface finish and is fully resin-bonded making it more effective to use and increasing product durability.

Abranet Max also has no directional arrows on the reverse side, which means it can be run in both directions making it much more economical and user-friendly. It has a grit range of P80-P240.

Craig Daycock, managing director of Mirka UK, says: “With our strong market knowledge and the support of our R&D facility in Jeppo, Mirka aims to continue its position at the cutting edge of abrasive technology, Abranet Max has been designed to offer our customers a practical, economical and effective product which can be used on a wide variety of materials whilst still offering the same high quality finish they have come to expect from Mirka.”
