As the UK’s homes are, on average, getting smaller, the need for compact living solutions is getting bigger. To help manufacturers make more of small footprints, Häfele UK is continually expanding its range of storage and transformable systems with clever space-enhancing options.

The Accuride range is one such collection. Often, normal drawer sliders will not hold the weight of heavy-duty items or a volume of items that weigh a lot collectively. Featuring ball-bearing technology developed for cabinetry in retail stores, Accuride systems can be used in home applications to create high-capacity storage drawers. Accuride 3832TR slide, for example, is perfect for creating understairs shoe storage, making more of an often underutilised space.

Häfele UK has also expanded its range of space-saving products, partnering with Atim, the Italian manufacturer of innovative transformable systems that are ideal for multifunctional and small living spaces.

With a 25-year heritage in creating space-saving aluminium furniture systems, Atim’s products are ideal for multifunctional and small living spaces. The new additions include Lunch, Party, Mensola Party and Voilà Chair Reverse, which can be used to hide a dining table or desk space inside a drawer to free up floor area or to produce an extendable table to a small kitchen island or peninsula.

All Atim table systems can be customised, plus due to their 100% aluminium structure, offer a guaranteed load capacity of up to 100kg.

Häfele UK will also be offering Atim’s Oplà, Oplà Top, Functional and Cook pull-out worktop systems to help create extra food preparation or storage space that is flexible and adaptable. Cook for example, can be used to construct a hidden chopping board with integrated utensil storage and waste bin, which doubles as a dining table once a meal is ready.

All worktop systems can be integrated into a standard drawer and have a load capacity up to 60kg. Each product also uses a simple sliding movement to create a surface that either extends and sits flush to an existing area or creates a new space entirely.

“The need for function and flexibility is more important than ever for homeowners,” says Justin Crofts, category manager for furniture construction at Häfele UK. “In our recent research, function was the number one factor when choosing a new kitchen for 60% of consumers and likewise, 10% – around 1.75 million homeowners – use the kitchen as a makeshift office. When you add to the equation that our homes are getting smaller, the demand for space-enhancing, multipurpose furniture is increasing.

“To help manufacturers respond to this growing consumer need, we’re always expanding our range of space-saving furniture components to be a single source of solutions for the industry.”
