With automation now playing a key role in overcoming labour challenges, integrated production solutions are becoming the go-to for panel manufacturers looking to increase output without adding complexity.
Masterwood’s complete cut, edge and drill solution – featuring the MS 320 beam saw, TF 600 SA90 drilling machine, and a range of high-performance edgebanders – comprises a full production line providing a host of benefits.
This setup enables panels to flow seamlessly from the saw to the edge bander and then to the drilling machine, with much of the process automated. The result is significantly improved throughput, reduced handling, and maximised material yield.
High-efficiency panel cutting
At the front end of the line, the MS 320 beam saw provides fast, accurate panel sizing with the ability to process multiple panels simultaneously.
The machine allows operators to stack three or four panels and cut them at the same time, helping to increase productivity. It uses grippers to pull back the panels, providing excellent stability and accuracy throughout the cutting process.
Each beam saw is equipped with Smart Factory optimisation software, designed to maximise material usage and minimise waste.
By optimising cutting patterns, the software helps manufacturers make the most of every sheet, reducing waste and improving profitability at a time when material costs remain high.
Seamless integration from cut to edge
Once cut, panels move efficiently through the production line, supported by integrated software and barcode tracking.
Each panel is barcoded at the beam saw before being transferred through the edgebander and into the drilling line. Because every stage is linked, the process flows smoothly and efficiently with minimal intervention.
Masterwood offers a range of edgebanders to suit different production requirements, with speeds ranging from 12 metres per minute up to 42 metres per minute, ensuring there is a solution for both smaller workshops and high-volume operations.
This flexibility allows manufacturers to build a system that meets their production needs today while leaving room for future expansion.
Automated drilling for speed and consistency
At the final stage, the TF 600 SA90 drilling machine completes the process by delivering high-speed, automated machining.
Panels are automatically read via an overhead barcode scanner on the infeed, triggering the correct machining programme without manual input. In many cases, there is no need for an operator, as the machine reads the barcode and automatically carries out the required operations.
The TF 600 SA90 is equipped with top and bottom routers, both featuring drill heads, while the upper unit includes a five-position tool changer to enable fast, versatile machining.
Operating at speeds of up to 125 metres per minute, the machine can achieve average panel processing times of between 12 and 20 seconds, making it ideal for both bespoke and high-volume manufacturing environments.
Built for both bespoke and batch production
One of the key advantages of the system is its ability to handle both one-off, bespoke work and large production runs with equal efficiency.
Whether producing custom pieces or processing high volumes of panels, manufacturers benefit from a solution that combines flexibility with productivity.
A smart starting point for growing manufacturers
For businesses investing in panel production for the first time, a complete cut, edge and drill solution offers a practical and future-proof approach.
This type of integrated setup is becoming one of the most popular solutions for companies that are either starting up or expanding. Efficient, scalable, and designed to provide a complete production process from the outset, it offers manufacturers a straightforward route to greater automation and productivity.
