Lamello launches ground-breaking LC P-16

This May, Lamello is launching its ground-breaking solution for connecting lightweight construction materials: the new LC P-16.

Available to view for the first time at this year’s Interzum and LIGNA, the LC P-16 is the newest addition to the P-System family. Designed for use on cardboard or plastic honeycomb, wood fibre or hard foam like XPS with surface layers made of wood composite, it combines the advantages of lightweight construction with efficient Clamex technology – enabling strong, detachable connections without concealed timber edges.

To work efficiently with such lightweight panels, the slender connector is anchored into the surface layers of the material and acts as an adapter for a further connector which simply slides into position. This allows for a strong, detachable connection without the time-consuming process of concealing timber edges or adhering to adhesive drying time. It also simplifies the machining and assembly process without compromising on aesthetics, stability and quality.

It can be used with all P-14 connectors from the Clamex P family. The LC P-16 provides strong anchorage for the Clamex P-14 connector halves in the edges of a lightweight panel or in the surface where layers are more an 4mm thick. Alternatively, the Clamex P-14 Flexus and Clamex P-14 CNC connectors can also be used to suit the application. For optimum strength in the lightweight panel, the Clamex P-10 is recommended as a counterpart.

Available in three product sizes – P-16 × 11, LC P-16 × 17 and LC P-16 × 22 – the use of the connector enables precise joints for the most common lightweight panels. Machining with two to three operations is carried out either with the Zeta P2 or with a CNC machining centre. The LC P-16 configurator determines the right product size and machining positions for the respective application.

“Whether in the furniture industry, interior fittings or vehicle construction, lightweight construction offers a flexible, resilient and sustainable solution,” says Shaye Chatfield, Lamello Area Sales Manager International for the UK and Ireland. “The new LC P-16 opens up new design possibilities. From motorhomes and yacht production to businesses where transport weight is paramount, it offers an effective and highly flexible solution. It’s also suitable for use on large mounted shelves or sideboards spanning more than a metre long thanks to its high rigidity, butt joints with a material thickness of 16mm and surface connections with materials as thick as 12mm.”

With the LC P-16, Lamello sets new standards in lightweight construction technology – for aesthetic, strong and efficient joints that meet the highest demands. From 5th May 2025, the new connector will be available from all authorised distribution partners in the UK and Ireland or can be viewed on Lamello’s Interzum stand (hall 7.1, C050-D051) and LIGNA (hall 13, B22).
