Exhibiting at this year’s Furniture Component Expo, Ramsey Timber Group is a leading supplier of timber components for the bedding and furniture industries. It specialises in manufacturing and sub-assembling softwood and sheet material components for divan and ottoman beds.
Established in 1972 in a portacabin in West Bradford, Ramsey Timber is still owned and managed by the Ramsey family, and is proud to supply many of the UK’s most prestigious bedding brands.
With operations across two connected sites in Bradford, totalling 140,000ft2, and a 140-strong team, the company manufactures up to 20 million components, and 100,000 ottomans, a year.
With the growing challenge of increasing overheads and labour costs, Ramsey Timber has invested heavily in automation and robotics – including its sub-assembly stapling robot, commissioned last summer. This has bolstered its sub-assembly capability and capacity, meaning it is even better positioned to offer sub-assembled bed kits that reduce its customers costs whilst increasing capacity in the factory and speed to market.
In terms of the upcoming Furniture Component Expo, Ramsey Timber’s main objective is to demonstrate how its sub-assembly offering can be used to effectively off-set increases in overhead cost pressures, particularly the expected increase in minimum wage rates due a matter of weeks after the show.
The company also wants to show the breadth of its capability, particularly in sheet material components.
