Luxury British bathroom manufacturer, Vanity Hall, has strengthened its production capabilities with the installation of an EDGETEQ S-500 and an XES 200 glue pot pre-heating station, which have been specially configured to produce three distinct edge profiles while increasing speed and accuracy across the business.
A commitment to continual improvement
For over 30 years, Vanity Hall has manufactured handcrafted bathroom furniture from its 60,000 sq. ft. facility in the heart of England. Known for exceptional quality, bespoke painted finishes and unwavering commitment to British craftsmanship, the company continues to invest in advanced manufacturing to support its growing product range.
“We try to invest in new machinery every year or so, to ensure we remain as efficient as possible,” explains Will Hall, Operations Director at Vanity Hall. “For this investment, we wanted to replace an older edge bander to speed things up and broaden our capabilities.”
A tailored solution
Although familiar with HOMAG’s reputation, this marked Vanity Hall’s first HOMAG purchase. Working closely with Ian Woodall from HOMAG, the business was drawn to an S-500 with a bespoke configuration and supporting XES 200.
“HOMAG understood exactly what we were after,” says Will. “They even arranged for us to visit one of their customers running a similar set-up so we could see it in practice. We were really impressed with how it performed.”
The new machine has been equipped with working stations that allow Vanity Hall to produce three different profiles, including the application of a 45-degree bevel to solid timber doors, a key aesthetic feature within its premium bathroom ranges. It also enables the application of paintable edge seal tape while simultaneously creating a profile suitable for a flawless painted finish.
Seamless transition
After assembly and thorough testing in Germany, the uniquely configured S-500 and XES 200 were shipped to Vanity Hall and installed right on schedule. “It was all very well handled,” says Will. “They had it commissioned quickly with minimal disruption to our operation.”
Comprehensive training then followed to get the team up to speed with the technology. “The S-500 is more advanced than anything we’ve had before, but the training provided by HOMAG was excellent. We felt confident using it after just a few days. Overall, it was a seamless transition.”
Broader capabilities, greater efficiency
“The EDGETEQ S-500 has broadened our capabilities significantly,” Will explains. “For example, we can now do 2mm radius chamfering, and we can also chamfer timber products as well as being able to groove them both vertically and horizontally. And this is all so easy to configure; just a few clicks and you’re away.”
Beyond versatility, the gains in efficiency and capacity have been substantial, while maintaining the exacting quality standards the brand is known for. “The accuracy is exceptional,” he adds. “We’ve made significant improvements in both speed and output.”
Lasting confidence
“HOMAG are highly professional and friendly at the same time,” says Will. “The customer service has been tip-top from sales right through to aftercare. This wasn’t a small investment, but we’ve been reassured every step of the way.”
For a company built on handcrafted excellence, the new edge banding cell ensures that traditional cabinetmaking values are now supported by cutting-edge precision. As Will concludes, “We’re certain that, with this technology and HOMAG’s support, we will continue to grow our business.”
