Quest Joinery has a history of delivering exceptional results for some of the most prestigious joinery projects in London and the Southeast. It is an award-winning specialist joinery manufacturer and high-end fit-out expert. The company recently invested in additional HOMAG woodworking machinery and storage facilities to enable competitive market diversification.

Established in 2011, Quest Joinery operates several HOMAG machines at its 25,000 square foot production site in Hemel Hempstead. The new equipment investment totalled £420,000 and included the acquisition of HOMAG’s SAWTEQ B-300 panel dividing saw and STORETEQ S-200 storage system.

Quest Joinery works in partnership with a selection of blue-chip construction companies, architects, designers, and high-end developers. Its project packages include specialist joinery, carpentry and design. With the new HOMAG technology, the company now produces high-volume joinery products such as kitchen units, wardrobes, and cubicles for its clients, in addition to its core bespoke high-end joinery packages.

Remarking on the new HOMAG machinery investment, the company’s production director and co-founder, Allan Jackson, said: “the quality and accuracy of our wood cutting has improved with the acquisition of HOMAG’s SAWTEQ B-300 panel dividing saw. We have also significantly enhanced our efficiency and productivity with HOMAG’s automated storage system.”

Superior quality, reliability, and efficiency

Allan Jackson pursued a rigorous procurement process when selecting the new equipment. HOMAG was chosen as his preferred supplier based on his belief in the superior quality, reliability, and ease of use of the HOMAG machines when compared to other leading woodworking equipment brands.

Commenting on the specification of the machines, Allan said: “The HOMAG sales representative guided us through the purchasing process and specification of the machines by taking the time to discuss our current and future production plans. He also took us to see the selected equipment in operation at similar production facilities, which was both useful and reassuring.”

High performance panel dividing saw

The HOMAG SAWTEQ B-300 offers high performance in a compact space. This panel dividing saw is suitable for producing in batch size 1, as well as in smaller series, and is ready for connection to automatic horizontal storage systems.

It is also ideal for networked production processes and provides smooth material flow and precise logistics process. The saw is designed to meet future expansion requirements, achieved with the many options that can be retrofitted.

With a dimensionally accurate program fence and a rugged pressure beam, the B-300 produces a first-class quality cut every time. It features a central side pressure device integrated directly in the saw carriage to shorten cycle times.

CADmatic 5 – the state-of-the-art, high-performance saw control system

The latest generation of the HOMAG saw controller, CADmatic 5, features an assistance graphic that clearly shows the machine operator what he has to do next. This 3D assistance tool is intuitive to operate, shortening the training period and reducing operator errors to a minimum.

The system has a 21” full-HD widescreen monitor with a multi-touch display to tap and swipe commands quickly and easily. Thanks to its intuitive operating concept and precise administrative functions, it provides a vast range of functions and ease of use.

What’s more, CADmatic 5 is ready to connect to tapio, HOMAG’s digital platform, and provides open communication with other machines and software solutions.

Efficient automated storage with the STORETEQ S-200

It is essential to have an efficient storage system in place to achieve fast production times. The HOMAG STORETEQ S-200 is an ideal entry level automated solution for small workshops restricted by space. It optimises the storage area in workshops, thus saving valuable production space.

The STORETEQ S-200 can increase productivity by up to 40 per cent with the quick, efficient storage and safe handling of panels. It calculates the best panel size to minimise material waste and speeds up the production process by keeping materials flowing. Furthermore, the S-200 features an intelligent standby mode, meaning the system only consumes energy when it is operational.
