A leading processor of coated and laminated wood-based products, Trade Fabrication Systems (TFS) has expanded its pre-finishing service for doors to include pre-machining, following recent investment in a state-of-the-art door processing machine.

The machine, which was installed in March, has the ability to accurately pre-work doors, before they are pre-finished to client specification. Replacing works previously completed onsite, the machine will precision rout spaces for lock mortises, hinge plates, letterboxes, viewing slots and numbers or even room names.

Accredited to ISO 9001:2015, TFS has established a leading service offering to the highest quality standards. Howard Morris, managing director at TFS, comments: “At TFS, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to expand our service offering.

“Understanding how to improve traditional methods within the construction industry, this was the next logical step for us to become the one-stop-shop for timber products and an integral part of the supply chain for builders’ merchants and housebuilders.”

Doors can now arrive on site precision cut, factory finished and protective wrapped, helping to streamline the site sequencing between joinery and finishing trades. Decreasing the time spent onsite by a joiner to complete these detailed works can help save the team valuable time prior to installation, reduce potential damage and increase quality.

One regional housebuilder that is already benefiting from TFS’ pre-finishing paint processes is Melrose Homes. Not only achieving the advantages of site efficiency, TFS’ ability to individually wrap pre-finished doors and deliver to site just-in-time has had a massive impact on the quality finish of the doors.

Howard concludes: “It is important to us that we offer our customers the very best in terms of quality. We can now factory pre-finish to any RAL colour or lacquer, pre-machine, individually wrap and deliver to site just in time, saving the contractor time and money whilst improving overall efficiency.”
