BFM’s new, easy-to-navigate website

Furniture manufacturers wanting to champion their work to a wider audience can take advantage of a new, enhanced online service from the British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM).

The trade body has made significant investment in a new website, which includes an opportunity for members to promote their work in the digital marketplace.

Each BFM member now has a profile page dedicated to their business – giving customers an easy-to-search showcase of the best of British furnishings and homewares.

The service is of particular note for smaller manufacturers, who can take advantage of raising their profile in an engaging format. The website can be viewed at bfm.org.uk

BFM has represented the interests of Britain’s furniture industry since 1947 and its membership includes a wide range of businesses, from rural craftspeople, through to household names.

Nick Garratt, the MD of BFM, said: “It’s more important than ever that we reinforce the ‘Buy British’ message to customers and promote the quality, safety, comfort and professionalism that is associated with British-made goods.

“The new online area is a step above the previous directory service, giving our members a much greater profile of their own businesses, with an enhanced area to showcase their company.

“This platform is crucial in connecting with consumers across the nation and getting the ‘Buy British’ message across.

“It’s an important part of our work overall to highlight the importance of the sector to our national economy and the quality and assurance that comes from buying British-made products.

“It also taps into consumers’ current natural desire to buy local and support jobs na-tionwide.”

This latest opportunity from the BFM is part of a package of services developed by the trade body to meet the needs of its members and champion the nation’s furni-ture makers.

It follows on the launch of a new legal toolkit, launched at the beginning of June, which is free to members and offers legal and business advice on key subjects such as health and safety, employment, tax, contracts and data protection.

Created by qualified and experienced solicitors and business experts, the BFM Legal Hub features DIY contracts, policies, forms and letter templates as well as straight-forward guides, links to key resources and up-to-date information on new legislation and case law.

BFM also provides timely, industry specific information to help members keep people up to date and get the assistance they need across their business operations, including dedicated hotline support and webinars, as well as a members’ area in-formation service, which is constantly updated.

It is also helping members navigate Brexit, again ensuring that the industry is kept up to date of often complex factors, and providing help and assistance as required.

Nick Garratt added: ““In the challenging times we face ahead, it has never been more important for our industry to come together and display the array of talent we have across the nation.

“BFM offers value and assistance to its members in helping to get that message across.”
