With parts of the country receiving record levels of rainfall in January and more predicted for February, it’s time to look at protecting your investment.
Chris Franklin, Chairman at Ranheat Engineering Ltd., a leading UK manufacturer of wood combustion equipment, continues his series of articles exclusively for Furniture and Joinery Production. This month, he writes about protecting your investment in a wood-fired boiler or heater.
Having made the decision to invest in a Wood-fired heater or boiler, it pays to protect your investment. This is why Ranheat, as part of their total supply package make a range of buildings to protect their range of equipment.
Most automatically fed wood-fired systems are located near the dust extraction system for the factory so that the extracted wood-waste can easily be transferred to a storage silo and then automatically fed into a boiler or heater.
Wood-fired boilers and heaters benefit from protection from rain and other elements. Because the equipment has a fire inside it and the need for ash removal, it makes sense to have the equipment housed inside a metal building (as opposed to a wooden one). As a result, Ranheat manufactures and installs a specialist range of purpose-made buildings to house their extensive range of products.
Many Ranheat customers produce large amounts of wood waste, often from man-made boards such as MDF, MFC Plywood etc. These man-made boards, when machined using modern CNC machinery, can often produce a fine dust or “flour”. Disposal of these fine dusts can be difficult and expensive unless used as a fuel in a Ranheat automatically fed wood-fired system.
Large amounts of fuel invariably mean a large combustion system that takes up a lot of space.
Ranheat offers a total solution by not only making the combustion equipment but also the building to house the equipment.
The buildings are often fitted with an electric roller shutter door and a lockable personnel door to prevent unauthorised entry to the building.
They are also fitted with high- and low-level ventilation in the form of louvres or grills to allow easy entry of combustion air essential for the combustion process.
Contact Ranheat for further information on all types and sizes of Industrial Woodburning equipment from 75 kW upwards. Ranheat also make spares and service and repair other makes of woodburning boilers and heaters.
