Together with long-time UK partner, Schubert Technical Services Ltd, Makor Srl have seen multiple, new, automatic finishing installations being installed across the UK wood, joinery and panel industry.

Makor Srl design, manufacture and supply a full range of automatic finishing machines and turn-key lines. Equipment includes profile and panel spray and vacuum coating lines, sanding and denibbing machines and drying ovens. Within the range are also robotic panel spray systems, designed to fulfil the growing need to finish specialised panel shapes and sizes.

Other highlights are the Makor Robospray Twin spray machine, able to coat through-feed at a speed of 5m/min, and, in robot mode, complex 3D shapes, as well as the flexible storage at the end of the line where the pieces are stored according to the varying drying times for each type of finish and then taken off the line automatically, based on the individual packing requirements.

The end of June this year will see Schubert’s open a new 500m² R&D test facility in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. This will house the company’s in-house range of manual finishing systems, as well as production versions of Makor Srl profile sanding, profile spray and panel spray lines. The centre will be used, not only for live testing on Makor equipment, but also to house a training facility, where UK customers can train operators ahead of installations, as well as provide annual top-up training.

Realising the only way to grow their businesses was through differentiation, added value coatings, new technology and top quality finishing systems, many UK customers have invested in small to medium-sized installations. Makor have provided either stand-alone machines or full turn-key coating lines.

A few notable recent installations have been:
• a complete panel spray line for staircase components with K-Two spray machine, Multilevel drying oven, Fastwarm IR system, brush de-nibbing machine, all based around water-based coatings.
• a profile spray line for solid wood door components, running at 30m/min, for both solvent and water-based paints and lacquers.
• a K-Two panel spray line, automatic lifting and trolley loading system, within a clean room flash-off zone, all for high gloss two-pack PU and water-based paints.
• a high speed line, 80m/min MDF profile coating lines. Capable of Pre-sanding, vacuum coating, drying, de-nibbing, vacuum coating and drying, in line – from beading to full lengths of MDF window board all fully automatically.
